The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the Indian cricket team’s new ‘One Blue Jersey’ for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 through Twitter on Sunday.
“To every cricket fan out there, this one’s for you. Presenting the all-new T20 Jersey – One Blue Jersey by @mpl_sport. #HarFanKiJersey #TeamIndia #MPLSports #CricketFandom,” tweeted BCCI.
The front of the jersey has a light tone of Azure Blue but the sleeves feature dark tones of Royal Blue. Team India will first wear the jersey during the 3-match T20I series against Australia, starting on 20th September. India will continue wearing it during the 3-match T20I series against South Africa, which will start from September 28 onwards.
This is for the first time in Indian cricket history that a jersey was not unveiled by the national team, but by the Mumbai Under-19 Women’s cricket players along with some ‘superfans’. Termed ‘One Blue Jersey’ will replace the Billion Cheers jersey in all the T20 international tournaments. The players will continue wearing the Billion Cheers Jersey in ODIs.
The new jersey with different shades of blue represents the fans irrespective of gender, age, or geographical area. Also, the jersey embodies the loyalty and merit the game cricket demands.

“The jersey pays homage to the legions of fans that span different genders and age groups, and transcend geographical borders. It is styled with a pattern of equilateral triangles – a universal symbol of the blend of energy, spirit, and power – that celebrates the unswerving support of the fans who have stood behind the team through thick and thin,” the kit sponsor said in the release.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav were the men’s players present in the picture posted on Twitter. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Renuka Singh, and Shafali Verma represented the women’s cricket team in the picture.
Team India’s new jersey launch is for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The jersey is quite attractive with several shades of blue. The fans hope that the new eye-catching jersey will change the fortunes of team India.
With the failure in Asia Cup 2022, everyone expects a comeback from team India. The scoreboard pressure plays a major role in T20 cricket and India batters were unable to post a formidable total of 180+ consistently. The Australian pitch condition is fast & bouncy as scoring won’t be that easy with big boundaries. So, India has a tough challenge on its hands. But the team has got good players for every scenario and everyone expects a blast from the Indian side.
Now all eyes are set on the T20 series against Australia and South Africa. These matches will serve as quality match practice for Men in Blue for the upcoming T20 World Cup which starts from October 16 to November 13 this year.
