Dream Run came to a Tragic End

In what we witnessed an amazing match, Australia came out victorious against Pakistan in the second semifinals of the ICC World Cup T20. This was one of the most anticipated matches in the entire tournament.

Pakistan was on an unbeatable run until yesterday, but the Aussies put an end to their dream run. Even the critics and pundits were showering wishes for the entire Pakistani team for their dominant run since the semis beating the likes of India, New Zealand, and others.

Earlier in the match, Australia won the toss and sent the Pakistanis to bat first. Then came the skipper Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan to open the innings and they put on a decent score in the first innings. Azam caught out after entering a 35 to his score sheet. But Rizwan kept the scoreboard moving. Slowly he picked up his pace and then started going rampage. Fakhar Nazam finished the innings with a bang thereby putting a total of 176/4. 

With the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan, it was a tough score for the Aussie batters. Afridi was a threat in the game’s opening segments, putting the Aussies in early trouble by dismissing their skipper Aron Finch for a golden duck.

David Warner put out a dominant effort before getting out for 49. After his dismissal, Pakistani fans were roaring out with hopes of final dreams. But things went on a roller coaster ride with an impressive performance from Mathew Wade.

Even luck was not on the Pakistani side as Hasan Ali dropped the catch of Wade in the 19th over bowled by Afridi. Wade hit back-to-back sixes after that bowl and ensured the tickets to the finals. 

The entire stadium was silenced after the losing effort from Pakistan.  Fans were left angry and distressed after the dropped catch. Earlier Pakistani fans and former players were roasting team India for their defeat against the latter.

Twitterati was screaming against Pakistan especially Hasan Ali who dropped what could have been a game-changer catch of Mathew Wade.

Now let’s wait for the finals – New Zealand vs Australia.
