Indian wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson break the silence on not giving selected for the T20 World Cup 2022 squad. Samson has been a cult figure for his fans in a short period of time with his impressive show in the white-ball format in the last two years and for the Indian team. He has not been part of many tournaments, but he managed to develop a huge fan base for himself with his performance. The fans always feel bad for Samson as they react as Samson is being intentionally ignored when it comes to selection for big cricket events.
Social media reacts each time when Sanju Samson is ignored. He was not part of the Asia Cup Squad this year. The same happened when the T20 World Cup squad was announced. Many say that he is being ignored on purpose. He has not given a longer run in the playing IX while players like Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are constantly backed by the captain and team management over a long period of time.
No one can deny the fact that many players get backing from the team management. Some players got the backing for sure, but those players instilled more trust in the team management than others. Samson showed an improved version of himself in the IPL in the last two seasons which led him to return to the Indian team earlier this year. Even though Samson has showcased his talent through different international matches and IPL matches, luck is not with him.
The same happened earlier also in the Indian cricket team. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly trusted and backed players like Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, and Yuvraj Singh. But these players never disappointed the captain or the team.

Likewise, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, R. Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja were backed by former captain M. S. Dhoni. These players were the best and they created history in World Cricket.
Now, the team management and captain Rohit Sharma trust Rishabh Pant and K. L. Rahul. Even though they were not performed well in the previous matches, we cannot say that they are not bad players. They will surely come good in the next matches. They are included in the Australia squad also.
The trust of the captain and the team management cannot be doubted in this situation. The same is exactly what Samson said in a video interaction.
Sanju Samson has spoken about not getting selected for the T20 World Cup 2022 and said that competing with his own team members will mean he is letting his country down. Pant and Rahul are his own teammates. He can’t compete with them.
“These days, in media and on social media, there are talks that who will Sanju replace in the Indian playing XI. Will you replace Rishabh Pant or KL Rahul. My thinking is very clear that both KL and Pant play for my own team. If I compete with my own teammates, then I’m letting my country down,” said Samson in the video.

Samson feels fortunate for playing for his country. He knows that being part of the Indian cricket team is a great thing. He accepts everything positively.
“But I feel very fortunate that I made a comeback after 5 years. Indian team was No 1 five years ago and even now. To become a part of the best 15 of Indian cricket team is a big thing. But at the same time, you also have to think about yourself as well and it is important to be in the right frame of mind and think positively,” said Sanju.
Samson accepts the decision of the selection committee and waits for his opportunity to play for his country again. Last Friday, BCCI announced the India A team one-day series against the New Zealand A team which will start later this month in Chennai, and named Sanju Samson as the captain of the India squad. This will surely be a great opportunity for Samson even though the fans are lashing out at BCCI.
