The left-handed Indian batsman Ishan Kishan scored his first ODI century converting it into a double ton in the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday. Winning the first two matches in the 3-match ODI series, Bangladesh expected to have a whitewash in the series. But Ishan Kishan’s spectacular strike of 210 runs off 131 balls helped India turn into the winning side. With his heroics, Ishan has become the youngest batsman to accomplish the feat.
“I cannot put into words what I’m feeling right now but I’ll try. I’m overwhelmed by the love, the messages, the wishes. This is an innings that will stay in my heart forever, a day that I won’t forget, and these moments that I’ll always carry with me. Thank you for everything.”, Kishan shared on Twitter.
Invited to bat first, opener Shikhar Dhawan went out earlier for another low score. The rest was a historical 290-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan. Kishan is the first batter to convert his maiden ODI hundred into a double-ton. Kohli too got his long-awaited 44th ODI century (113 off 91) after 3 years. India has scored a mammoth total of 409 runs, and chasing down the target was not easy for Bangladesh. They all went out in 182 in 34 overs.
With the strike rate, Kishan has become the man of the match of the game. A top-notch performance from India avoided the clean sweep by Bangladesh.

The records Ishan Kishan broke
Playing his 10th ODI match, Ishan Kishan has posted his career-best score of 210 runs effacing 93 runs against South Africa on October 9, 2022, at Ranchi.
Kishan is the first men’s player in Cricket history to convert his maiden century into a double-ton.
Also, he became the first Indian player to post a double hundred away from home in ODIs.
Kishan’s sparkling innings is the highest by any batsman against Bangladesh in ODIs. The second highest was the 194 runs by Charles Coventry of Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on August 16, 2009.
Surpassing the 185 not out of Shane Watson, Ishan Kishan recorded a double century in ODIs on Bangladesh soil.
Ishan Kishan is the 3rd left-handed player to register a double hundred in ODIs. The first is Chris Gayle of West Indies with 215 off 147 balls vs Zimbabwe at Canberra on February 2015. The second is Fakhar Zaman – 200 not out off 156 balls vs Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on July 2018.
The 24-year-old Ishan is the youngest batter to post the double century in ODIs. He surpasses Rohit Sharma’s record, who accomplished it when he was in 26 (209 off 158 balls against Australia at Bengaluru in November 2013).
Also, Ishan’s splendid strike rate of 160.30 is the highest in a knock of 200-plus in ODIs. Rohit Sharma is in second with a strike rate of 152.60.
Ishan managed to earn 68.6% of runs during the 290-run partnership with Kohli, which is the highest contribution by a player.
In 30 overs, Ishan has got a huge total of 179 off 113 balls – the most runs by an Indian batsman in 30 overs. Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan scored 132 runs in 30 overs vs Sri Lanka at Dambulla on August 2017.
Also, he has reached 150 runs off 103 balls, the least balls taken by an Indian to achieve this. Earlier, Virender Sehwag scored the same in 112 balls during his course of 219 off 149 balls against West Indies on December 2011.
His record of 126-ball double record in ODIs outpace Chris Gayle’s 138-ball double century against Zimbabwe on February 2015 at Canberra.
