India vs England 2nd ODI; India hopes for one more victory to clinch the series

After the 10-wicket big win at The Oval in the 1st ODI, team India is looking to continue the winning run against England in the India vs England 2nd ODI at the Lord’s on July 14th. Continuing their winning streak in the T20Is, India easily defeated the opposition in less than 20 overs in the 1st match of the three-match series. With the win, India would be high on confidence and the Rohit Sharma led team would look to overpower the World Champions with another show at Lord’s.

India tamed the three lions of England Cricket, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jonny Bairstow with the power-packed bowlers. The build-up was massive before the game because all expected a massive attack from the trio. But Jasprit Bumrah tore the powerful England line-up with his career-best 6-wicket draw.

It is the first time that England accepts a defeat over 10 wickets and India ended up the show before 50 overs combining the 2 innings. India will most probably go with the unchanged side to win the match and the ODI series to experiment in the 3rd ODI match.

England lost the T20I series last week and is now on the verge of losing the ODI series as well. So, England will surely be cautious of winning the 2nd ODI to keep the series alive and take the ODIs into the decider. Team England wants to change the approach to continue with the legacy of Eoin Morgan.

Jos Butler has a world-class team at his disposal on the batting level, but they are repeatedly humiliated by the bowling of India. Revisiting the strategies is necessary now to control the game. There is nothing much to comment on the English bowling as they had little to defend in the last game. But their inability to pick even a single wicket will surely bother them.

India’s Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan partnership cruised to an easy win in the 1st match. By scoring 76 runs off 58, Rohit smashed several records. He became the first Indian to bang 250 sixes in ODIs and the top run-scorer among visiting batters in ODIs played in England.

Virat Kohli who got injured before the first ODI may not be playing the 2nd match. Suryakumar Yadav may be retained in the XI after his sparkling century in the last T20I. Bumrah and Shami the power players will be present in the game to settle down the England batters.

England’s Butler, Root, Stokes, and Bairstow combination will surely try to change the mode of the game in the second match. An aggressive side of the team may be viewed by the fans.

The weather will remain sunny in Lord’s as per the weather forecast. But the temperature may remain in the lower 20s. while considering the pitch, Lord’s has always favoured the bowlers, especially bouncers. It is an advantage for the Indian bowling line-up. If the weather remains sunny, the batsmen will get assistance from the pitch. The one who wins the toss may bat first.

Whether India owns the ODI series with a win in the second match or is forced to go for the decider will be known today at 5.30 pm at Lord’s.
