ISL 2022-23 Kerala Blasters FC vs Chennaiyin FC: Kerala Blasters made a strong comeback with Adrian Luna

Kerala Blasters FC made a strong comeback by defeating Chennaiyin FC 2-1 in the latest Indian Super League match held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Tuesday. Chennaiyin FC scored first in the second minute with a fantastic shot from Nasser El Khayati that hit the post and went in.

Kerala Blasters continued to attack, and in the 39th minute, Adrian Luna equalized with a beautiful shot from the edge of the area. Finally, Rahul KP secured the win for Kerala Blasters in the 64th minute by scoring a powerful goal past Chennaiyin keeper Samik Mitra.

There were many notable individual performances from the match and a brilliant contest was showcased by both clubs with quality players in the line-up.

Prabhuskhan Gill has made five saves for the Kerala Blasters. Hormipam Ruivah was strong in defence and made three clearances to keep Chennai’s attacks away. He also made a strong partnership with Victor Mongil throughout the game. Victor Mongil was once again sensational in the game, leading the defence. Retaining the ball possession and building up from the back, he was crucial in the match. He completed 52 of his 57 passes.

Jessel Carneiro too was good in the match, made seven crosses, and took a couple of shots on goal too.

Midfielder Adrian Luna, who was a player to keep an eye on, once again showcased why he is a top player in the ISL. He scored the equalizer for Kerala Blasters with a stunning shot that went into the top corner of the net. He also provided the assist for Rahul’s winning goal, which gave the home team three points.

Winger Rahul KP was also instrumental in securing the victory for the Yellow Army, scoring the second goal with a well-executed first-time finish from inside the box. His dribbling was bold and adventurous throughout the game.

For Chennai, Samik Mitra made good saves by actively involving in the game in the first half. Gurmukh Singh was also decent in the game, making 9 clearances and one interception. Aakash Sangwan was good in defence and he got involved in three tackles and four interceptions.

The birthday boy Nasser El Khayati had given Chennai a lead in the second minute of the match. But the birthday party was spoiled by Kerala Blasters with a super exciting attack. El Khayati was the lone warrior in the game for Chennai as he created many spaces all around the pitch. He was the one who scored a goal for the side along with 3 target shots.

Chennaiyin’s chances of making it to the playoffs have been greatly diminished due to the loss. They must win all their remaining games and rely on favorable outcomes in other matches to have a chance of qualifying. Meanwhile, the Kerala Blasters only require three more points to secure a spot in the playoffs. Despite Chennaiyin taking an early lead, the Blasters managed to score goals before and after halftime to secure the win.
