Sunday, we saw an amazing encounter between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. Rajasthan emerged victorious after outstanding performances from Hetmyer and Chahal.
But the talking point of the match was R Aswin’s retired-out moment. Aswin became the first player in the history of the tournament to be retired. Retired out is a concept that is completely different from retired hurt. Here the batsman who chose to be retired out cannot be able to bat again in the match in that innings. In one of the best strategies, we have seen this year R Aswin made himself retire to allow Rayan Parag to enter and increase the momentum with Hitmeyer in the slog overs.
Aswin had a brilliant 68 run partnership with Hitmeyer before leaving and that includes 2 monstrous sixes that took a flight out of the park bowled by Avesh Khan. The funniest thing was that he didn’t inform his batting partner about this strategy.
The Rajasthan spinner is named 4th in the list of players who opted to be retired out in all of T20 cricket.
