India’s Most popular Ranji Trophy season is all set to kick off on February 17 of 2022. The Kerala Cricket Association has announced that the upcoming season of the Ranji trophy will include S.Sreesanth.
His Last match in first-class cricket was in the IPL 2013 Season for Rajasthan Royals. However, the BCCI banned Sreesanth, who was embroiled in a spot-fixing controversy that season. He was later absolved in 2020 after a legal battle. Sreesanth is the second-highest-paid player from Kerala with a base price of Rs 50 lakh in the IPL star auction this year. He is returning to first-class cricket after being shortlisted for the IPL Auction 2022 and joins Kerala Cricket Team -The Elite Group A in the Ranji Trophy cricket tournament

Last year, the Ranji Trophy season was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, it was set to commence on January 13 this year but it was once again postponed as the precaution of the third wave of Covid-19.
However, recently the BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced that the popular domestic cricket competition will be held in two phases. It is all set to begin the first phase of the tournament, which will consist of league stage matches, from February 17 to March 15 across various venues in the country. This time 38 teams will compete in nine venues. In the preliminary stage, there will be eight elite groups of four teams and one plate group of six teams. Meanwhile, the second phase, which consists of knockout games, will begin after a break from May 30 to June 26.
Anyhow Sreesanth’s re-entry to First-Class cricket had made a great response among the cricket fans and for him, this is another chance to prove himself as to how he was. Let’s hope the champion of ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and ICC World Cup 2011, will shine in the upcoming seasons.
