The 31-year-old India national team batter Suryakumar Yadav has moved up to the 2nd position in ICC Men’s T20I ranking. The weekly update of the ICC Men’s T20I player ranking was released on Wednesday. Pakistan’s Baber Azam belongs to the first position in the ranking.
Now, Yadav becomes the highest-ranked Indian batter in ICC ranking.
An official ICC release stated that “Yadav has moved up three spots to within two rating points of top-ranked Babar Azam after a dazzling 44-ball knock of 76 that won him the Player of the Match award and sees him lead the batting aggregate with 111 runs from three matches in the series against the West Indies which his side leads 2-1,”.
Yadav has recently smashed his maiden T20I century in the final match of the 3-match T20I series against England at Nottingham. With the century, he got a career-high rating of 732 ranking points.
Yadav has been in fine form for India in the past matches. His latest exploits with the bat now after the 3 ODI matches and the ongoing T20I series against West Indies, he got 816 points, 2 points lower than Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.

Azam is in danger of losing his position as the best batsman in the world after Yadav emerged as the star player.
Yadav surged up 3 positions to become the 2nd position now. Pakistan veteran Mohammed Rizwan, South Africa’s Aiden Markram, and England left-hander Dawid Malan are in the third, fourth, and fifth positions now and they all dropped a position now due to Yadav.
Yadav only made his international debut at the start of last year, and this is truly an achievement for him in this short period of time. He has been promoted as the opening batter of team India with skipper Rohit Sharma. During the West Indies tour, Yadav has been the strong pillar for team India as he scored a total of 111 runs at a strike rate of 168 through the 1st 3 T20 matches and that helped India to claim a 2-1 series lead.
This will surely boost Yadav’s chance of being included in the trip to Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup this year.
With the remaining 2 matches against West Indies, Yadav can have a chance to overtake Babar Azam in the coming week to become the No. 1 batter. Earlier, Yadav jumped 44 spots to 5th overall in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings for batters. Also, his teammate Bhuvneshwar Kumar also moved up to 8th position in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings for bowlers. He has jumped seven places to reach there with 658 ranking points. His wonderful performance in the T20I series against England helped him win the award.
